What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To be able to give an accurate quote, I need to know how many people will be attending, colour schemes for any venue that are to be dressed, if the request is for a cake what flavours is the client looking for? Have they got any designs in mind? Basically the more information provided the better. This allows us to create a bespoke package for the client.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Book early. Even if your event is two or three years away, it really does pay to secure the suppliers that you want. The longer you leave it the more chance there is of not getting the people you really want and having to settle for second best.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Sugar Crumb Cake Company is my baby. There is no better feeling than seeing peoples faces when you deliver their cake that they have envisioned for so long. It makes all the hard fiddly work worth every second.
We have expanded our services and now offer cupcake parties. We also now source table/chair covers and sashes and have close relationships with events companies and venue dressing companies so can offer a one stop shop for all things party and weddings.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have a booking to fulfil in August for a lady who wants to surprise her boyfriend. We met and discussed the design of the cake and there are so many elements that its going to look absolutely fabulous when its made.
