What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For a comprehensive quote, ideally we would need to know the event date and time, the number of hours of the event, the number of people attending, the location, if the event space is outdoors/indoors and finally how many other hot food traders they are planning on having at the event (if any)? From this, we can gauge whether Oink London would work well at this event and put together a suitable and accurate quote.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ensure you ask the provider about the product they are offering and if it is meat where it has come from because after all we should be sourcing locally and the quality of meat really does make a difference. Ask what add on and sides/extras are available to their main product as this can be lost in translation sometimes. Ask if they accept payments with a card as well as cash, as this makes life a lot easier. Also, find out how many portions they can serve per hour at maximum output.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Oink London was born after globetrotting and tasting the various cuisines the world has to offer. It was this adventure that gave partners Tommy and Hannah the idea to bring their flavour experiences from their travels and integrate it into the English staple: a bacon butty. The aim was simple; to revolutionise the renowned Butty that we all know and love.
Tommy's passion has always been cooking and providing people with a taste sensation they can rave about, whilst Hannah's background in events and marketing meant that creating Oink London was an obvious decision and why not start mobile - lower start-up costs, choose when you work and you are not stuck in one location.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Daily we receive lots of opportunities from Add to Event and we have to carefully sieve through and select those that we really think we are suited to and would accept our quote. From this platform, we have attended a private Easter Egg hunt which was a great success and the 100s of attendees loved our gourmet bacon butties and have taken our details for future events. We especially suit well to do sporting events as well as private parties i.e. weddings and birthday parties where they want late-night food. I would recommend and speak about Add to Event highly as when we were starting up it really helped to get business going in the private sector.
