What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to be able to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally I need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the genres of music required, the estimated number of guests and the location/size/layout of the venue. The more information I have the better able I am to provide a comprehensive quote and ensure that I have the right equipment with me to meet your requirements.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
No two mobile DJs are the same. Each will have different areas of musical expertise and different equipment and will charge accordingly. I wouldn't be the right DJ for a specialist Northern Soul or Jazz night because I don't have the depth of musical knowledge in those genres to guarantee a good night. Similarly someone with poor sound and lighting equipment, whilst being inexpensive, might not be the right person to entertain 200+ guests at a marquee wedding. It is important to find the DJ who can provide exactly what you want within your budget.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Eclipse Disco Limited unexpectedly came into existence in April 2015. Having been a hobby DJ for many years I was asked if I would provide the disco for a friend's birthday party and was I happy to help out. The night was a great success, exceeding all my expectations and lead to me wanting to provide my DJ services on a professional basis. I invested what money I had available into buying a PA system and some DJ lights and started to market my services. I haven't looked back since.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I'm fairly new to Add to Event but have been able to provide my services at two parties since I joined. Both events were birthday parties, the first being a 30th birthday in Manchester and the second a 14th birthday party near Leeds. I would say that both parties went really well and that my clients were pleased with the services I provided. I look forward to working at future parties through Add to Event and would recommend the service to other event professionals and party organisers.
