What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order to provide a more concise quote, we would need the event date, location, and expected number of attendees. Event specifics are also a bonus (whether the event is inside or outside and what type of event we are catering, for example, a 21st Birthday Party, Wedding, Corporate Brand Launch etc). Knowing these details will enable us to tailor the perfect package for your event utilising our industry knowledge and experience and will allow us to provide the best possible service. With certain venues different levels of equipment may be needed to match the performance expected by the client, we are able to consult on this so long as the client has sufficient information from the venue.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Initially, I would suggest the client question the provider about services that were most important to them, for example, if their focus was on the particular genre of music, I would make sure they were well versed in that particular niche. If the client's passion lay in the sonic expanse of the sound, I would recommend they ask the provider about the different types of sound systems available as different manufactures brands and different types of speaker boxes all "colour" the sound in different ways. Knowing what cabinets to use and why will ultimately give the client complete confidence as It demonstrates their chosen provider can supply them with what suits the event best, even if they themselves are not sure.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
MrD & Motive have had a long standing Passion with music and sound systems. Being at the forefront of a group of creative people (Pure Connection) the only correct thing to do was to expose more and more people to this un-tapped creativity. Having such a wide range of Dj's, hosts, engineers and performers around has helped both of us to grow as performers and providers ourselves. Tired of attending events that were poorly planned, & under engineered, we decided to do something about it and formed MrD & Motive, drawing on all of our collective experience to help others achieve their dream event without the stress that would usually come with it.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
There have been many bookings via the Add to Event platform, it has enabled us to expand our brand reach, and even branch out into avenues that we wanted to go down but didn't have the clientele. It has enabled us to choose the events we feel could benefit the client best from our particular experience and skill set so therefore provide the best possible service.
We were lucky enough to undertake a booking from another DJ agency that utilises Add to Event to supplement their roster when they receive niche requests. We filled that niche. The event made us push our boundaries and allowed us to develop a particular sector that proved to be extremely popular, that we thoroughly enjoyed performing! If we hadn't pushed forward with Add to Event, this never would have happened, we can't recommend this platform enough and as it grows we will grow too.
