What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
When booking a live band there are a number of key bits of information we need to quote accurately. As well as the obvious things like date and location, timings are also really important to consider. A full band usually takes an hour or more to set up and will also need to soundcheck (i.e. be loud!) towards the end of this time. You need to consider this in the context of when the venue can be accessed when the guests will arrive, and what other things you have planned for the event. Performance times are fairly standard across most bands/events, usually 2 sets of 45 minutes to an hour, but we also offer other add-on options like extra performances or a DJ service.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
As well as the distance the band has to travel and the time spent on site, the other key factor that will impact your quote is the quality of the band! Everyone loves a pub rock band but the expectations of quality are not as high as they are for an events band so to a large extent you get what you pay for - a good events band will have invested heavily in training, rehearsal, professional equipment, PA and lighting, and will be fully insured, PAT tested, and experienced in working at events, knowing how to keep everything stress free for you and helping everything to run smoothly.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Cassette Roulette was formed from our shared passion for music that makes you want to get up and dance! The five of us all strive to be the best that we can be individually, but the real joy of being in a band is when you put it all together and make something more than the sum of its parts. We aim to create a really big sound and vocals are massively important to us with 3 singers in the band. We are lucky enough to have been involved with countless great events ranging from birthday parties, weddings, corporate events and more, to performing on big stages at festivals. Nothing makes us happier than a full dance floor full of smiling people! :)
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
While the band has been around quite a while, we are new to the Add to Event platform and have just made our first booking for a wedding party.
