Bella Mia Pizza
Bella Mia Pizza began in 2016 when Jamie built his first mobile wood-fired pizza trailer, the original plan was to use it for family parties when he was asked to attend Bourton-on-the-Water for their Christmas lights switch-on, the pizzas flew out and from then the business was born. After all this success Jame built his second trailer, a larger wood-fired oven was installed so he could cater for larger parties. Read on for more!
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We’d need the event date and location, dietary requirements and how many you’d like us to cater for.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I’d look into the reviews and also the social media to make sure it’s what you’re looking for, also I’d ask to try the product, we welcome everyone to come down to us and find out what we’re about.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
It all started at a young age where Jamie Di Crescienzio frequently visited family in Naples, to then head down to a family villa just south of the Amalfi Coast where he’d spend a few weeks being around his Italian family. To the traditional Italian family food is the prime subject of all conversations, typically arguments or “discussions” were had, as to the best way to cook the dishes. Being constantly around incredible food, full of flavour and large family feasts definitely had an effect on him and how he saw food. This is where he had his first wood-fired pizza from a small village called Paestum. He went with his cousin to watch the pizza being made in this, to him the alien way. This pizza was something that he’s never experienced, the unique smell, the taste, the way it was cooked, it was something that just wasn’t around in England, that memory wouldn’t leave him. He spent a lot of time with his Nan, Filomena, she’d always be cooking beautiful Italian dishes and had a huge influence on him.
Bella Mia has catered for many events including Superdry’s Christmas party, Gloucester Rugby, Wembley to being onset with Made in Chelsea, also catering twice for the Greek Royals for private parties, and endless weddings, the food is the key, the drive that’s made this business what it is today, it’s all homemade and has the family traditions and secrets. The main ingredients are sourced from Italy, so you could literally close your eyes and be transported to Naples bay and taste the very food from Italy!
The 2020 food and events industry was hit hard by COVID-19 so Jamie luckily had his trailer to create a takeaway business, unaware how popular the demand would be! The business keeps growing but more importantly the food quality and personal touch is paramount.
