What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide quote it is important to know what the event is and the age range of the guests. Also, how many guests are expected, the venue location and if it is inside or outside, along with the usual information like dates, accessibility, power supply available etc.. This way I can give a fixed quote and also tailor the set of songs and my outfit to suit, to bring the whole thing together nicely.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's a good idea to know what atmosphere the organiser is hoping to achieve? The music chosen can create (or take away) atmosphere. If they’d like to encourage dancing then ask for an upbeat set for dancing to. If it is to sit nicely in the background to allow for conversation, then softer music will be required that doesn't overpower but still uplifts the mood if required. It’s also a good idea to know what power supply you are able to offer and what the accessibility is like as there is some heavy equipment with live music. Also, if the event is outside there would need to be some sort of cover just in case the weather turns.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have loved singing from a young age and people have always enjoyed hearing me, so I thought why not share my gift. I have always loved to entertain and make people smile. I get the biggest buzz when people sing along and/or dance while I'm singing.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I had a booking recently for a local Food Festival in Wiltshire. I provided 3 x 30 mins sets of Jazz which went down well and after people came up to me to ask for pictures - which was lovely! There were people dancing, including children which is always lovely to see and others eating at the tables nearby and staying to watch me even after their food was gone! The event organiser was super friendly and very easy to talk to, she gave me a choice for places to perform and provided an electrical supply. It was a lovely day!
