What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
When sending a quote request to us, we're going to need as much detail as possible to make our quote accurate. This is just to ensure that we are fully aware of what is needed from us, so we won't be caught out by any needless surprises.
We will need a full brief of what the event is going to be; including what will be expected from our staff, what the timings of the event will be (so when will the staff need to arrive, when will the event begin, when will other key elements occur, and ultimately when will the staff finish), information for breaks is also helpful for staff in the case of events lasting longer than 6 hours. As an event staff hire company, the welfare of our staff is paramount!
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Honestly the best advice is to shop around and communicate with the various suppliers. Just like with other products and services, don't assume the most expensive service will be the best and don't assume the cheapest will be the worst. If you open an honest dialogue with the supplier, you might get an honest response - because it's your event, you should get someone who is knowledgeable and actually cares.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Boys and Girls Promotions began from first hand experience. We attended multiple events in and around the city of Oxford and marveled at how wonderful each event was; from the beautiful venue, to the great entertainment and catering. Always, however, the issue was with the staff who served us and other guests. They all seemed to be young people who didn't care, they just wanted to get paid and get home as quick as possible.
So we set up this company to provide a far better service. Understanding that event organisers put huge effort and even their reputation on the line to deliver these events - we aim to supply the best staff for each event we are involved in.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We've had a few bookings come through from Add to Event. We have tried multiple sites and platforms to link up suppliers and customers, but Add to Event has been the most fruitful for us. We have happily recommended it to other companies working in the industry around Oxford.
The process to send a quote and message between both parties is excellent and intuitive. With one of our bookings we were able to negotiate further needs and even provide some of our knowledge with the industry in order to aid them to make the day a much better experience not only for the guests, but also for our staff.
