Catering by Carlotta creates buffet and sit down meals for the Southern Highlands and central Scotland. Servicing weddings, birthday parties, funerals, corporate events and more, they were established in Killin in Stirling.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order to provide a comprehensive quote, we need the exact date of the event, the location (ideally more than just the postcode) and the number of people to be catered for. It is also helpful to know what catering facilities are available to us. Another contributing factor to the overall cost is whether serving staff are required or not.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask the provider how long they have been offering this sort of service, and how much experience they have in the particular kind of event you are looking to hire them for. Ask them if they have regular staff they use, or whether they come through a third party or agency.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The business was, in effect started in 1986 in Edinburgh - when it was known as Carlotta's Catering Services which offered a quality service to many corporate clients. This was as a result of having studied for, and graduated with an HND in Catering and Hotel hospitality. In 2001, this business was sold to a much larger company, who intended to develop the already large client base. We relocated to Perthshire to concentrate on catering for the discerning private client, specialising in weddings and other large events, whilst still providing a service for smaller private parties, buffets and dinners.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I cannot believe the amount of interest we have had in our services since joining Add to Event.
All sorts of enquiries come in every single day! A memorable recent event from this platform was a private party in Stirling. The client was delighted with the reliable service we offered, and in particular that all crockery and cutlery etc. was included in the price quoted. The clients and their guests were very complimentary not just about the food, but about the whole package so I hope that, that event will deliver us future bookings.
