Though they have experience in all areas of cuisine, Salon Events are known for their experience in Asian cuisine such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Thai as well as Caribbean and Middle Eastern flavours.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, we ideally need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event you are hosting e.g. wedding, corporate, birthday party or product launch etc, potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event as well as the location of the venue. A brief description of the venue such as kitchen facilities is useful too - is there running water and a fridge & freezer facility? What types of oven and cooker is in place etc. Also indicate if you need a drink quote and if so what type of drinks you require such as wines or cocktails. Our basic comprehensive quote will consist of catering, staff, equipment and transport.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Catering is a very important part of any event and it will be one of the biggest parts of your budget so you should give careful consideration. Firstly, research the provider through word of mouth, internet and magazines. Check their information and see if you feel right about it. Secondly, ask for a quote and a proposed menu. If possible speak to them on the phone as well. The provider will get more information from you and vice versa. Once you received the documents, do ask any questions that might arise so you and the provider are on the same page. You should feel that all your queries are answered. All good professionals will or should provide you with more than your expectations. You should feel "Wow, that sounds great. I would have never thought that" or "Thank you for pointing it out, I would have missed it" and so on. Once you are happy with the quote and the menu you can ask for a tasting. Every provider has different terms and conditions on this so check before the request. During the tasting you can really go through with all the details. Please voice out your concerns and also compliment if it works for you. A good working relationship will contribute to better results!
Finally, the caterer should be approachable every step of the way and if not they might be too busy for your event and that is not a good sign.

I have been in event catering industry for 17 years. I was fortunate enough to work with high profile corporate, private clients as well as amazing landmark London venues as a head chef/executive chef for a prestige event catering company. The start of Salon events was a natural process. We want to serve mouth-watering food through impeccable service teamed up with a creative approach - helping you to host the memorable day that you always wished for!
