Bevington's Catering

Established in 2008 and going from strength to strength, Bevington's Catering is your go-to caterer in Lancaster with a prestigious and expanding list of clients in the local area and beyond. Read on for more information plus a few tips on what to check when booking a caterer for your event.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

I am happy to provide a completely bespoke service but need the information to enable me to do that. Please let me know the date of the event, the venue, type of food you would like, number attending and what sort of an event it is you would like catering for. It is always useful to have a budget in mind so I know how to pitch the quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My advice would be to ask if they have experience of working such events before and whether or not sample menus could be provided. I find it not helpful to be asked for photographs as photographs can easily be taken from elsewhere. I would also ask where their produce is sourced and want reassuring that the food is of good quality.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started my business as I have always had a passion for providing good decent and solid food for people. I found myself in a situation in 2008 where I could afford to start a business slowly because it was something I wanted to do rather than straightaway needing to do it as a means of an income. I think this made a difference to my attitude. This attitude continued to the point whereby I needed income from the business as a means of living but it did not compromise my beliefs. You could probably label me as a typical northerner in that I like people to have lots of good food and be satisfied with the quantity as well as the quality.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have had a few bookings through Add to Event but have to admit most of my bookings came through word of mouth. However, times are now changing and I find more and more people are submitting requirements through a platform such as Add to Event as it takes a lot of work away from them. They can then receive a few quotes and go through them at their leisure and there is never a commitment from the customer until they have finally booked. I think this takes a lot of pressure off people.
