Van den Eshof Photography

When I started writing this 'About ' page, a part of me started to cringe because I never know what to write for these things. I started off by saying the usual "My name is Jennifer van den Eshof. I am a 30 something Oxfordshire based photographer, who specialises in wedding and portrait photography, documentary style." Boring bit done!

Then I thought I really should talk about when my photography journey began....If I could tell you that it all started by me picking up a camera when I was three and that I hold a first class degree in photography that would be amazing, but somewhat inaccurate.

So where it did it all start for me? It seems a bit unlikely, but actually I first learned how to compose a photograph as well as capturing moments between people on an iphone. It’s a bit of an admission to make but actually some of my favourite pictures were taken with that phone. One in particular is of my sister and her two year old son. She didn't know I was taking the picture at the time, but I absolutely adore the way she is looking at him in that photo - the look of a mother who is just smitten with her son...I might blog about it someday! It’s these kinds of emotions that I look for when I am out with my camera.

A few years went by until I picked up my first DSLR camera. I learned how to use it properly, picked up different photography techniques and practised, practised, practised! Now I photograph professionally. I love the way a photograph can pin point a specific moment in time that reflects true honest emotions and that is what I look to capture throughout a wedding day and in my portrait sessions.

To keep myself on the ball, I invest heavily in my career as a photographer, regularly attending workshops, and educational courses with the best talent across the industry. I find this helps improves my technique and allows me to become a better photographer in the process. I’m never done learning.
