What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Ideally, I need to know when and where the event is taking place and how many people are expected. This helps with me organising how much kit to bring as I need to factor in a variety of pictures and sand quantities
As I need to set up the equipment I need access to venues before the party or event starts, usually between 30-60 minutes depending on the type of event and whether I need to set up my gazebo.
It's handy to know if there is any particular theme or personal preferences as I have such a variety of pictures that I can cater to various themes, such as mystical with dragons, castles and princesses. I can do under the sea with mermaids, fishes and sea pictures etc.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ideally, you want to get to know the entertainer. Do you gel? Are they easy to talk to? Are they relaxed? Are they fun? Are they engaging?
It's always wise to ask about their experience of working with children as ultimately that is what they'll be doing. In my case, I have lots of experience of working with children in childcare through various roles and I have a firm understanding of how children develop, learn and play.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started Marlowe's Makes whilst carrying my only baby girl, to which the business is named after her.
I've worked with children in nurseries, as a nanny and as a childminder. I wanted to escape the bureaucracy of childcare and the mountains of paperwork that come with it but still work alongside children.
I started and developed my business to offer various crafting parties. It's super flexible as I work when I can and fit it all around our needs as a family.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I did a fab birthday party through Add to Event which I really enjoyed. The parents were super friendly, helpful and generally pleasant to be around.
The children, primarily made up of boys (yes sand art isn't just for girls) were all super well behaved, engaged in the activity really well and created some fantastic pictures.
I do and have recommended the platform to other friends who have signed up via the referral system. I get lots of enquiries, I just wish the people submitting the quotes were a little bit more specific about what they are looking for. Other than that it has more than already paid for itself. An investment.
