What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us, the key information from the organiser is the age profiles of the guests, the style and ambience they want to have at their event, the range of special dietary requirements they would like catered for, the capability of the planned venue in terms of space and available equipment and finally their personal preference in terms of food styles, favourite dishes/cuisines. This enables us to design a range of dishes for approval; we tend not to have or send out composite menus, we prefer to construct a menu according to their budget and criteria.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Inform the supplier about exactly what you want on your menu - this will allow them to demonstrate a wide range of dishes. It would also be good to inform the supplier on any specific dietary needs and a budget for what they want to spend on the service.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Following a long career in catering and careers education, my wife Helen and I, decided to fulfil our passion of cooking, creating dishes and serving our foods, getting enjoyment for the satisfaction of providing a bespoke, high quality meal experience for a wide range of clients and events. We wanted to create business that was very flexible in the food we offer, and at the same time, provide for the ever widening range of dietary requirements
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Our most recent Add to Event - event has been the most satisfying; a 50th birthday party offering 3 types of 'street food' for the nicest, most chilled out family and clients, Bernie and Kathryn.
We catered for 110 people in about 90 minutes on a glorious sunny evening with the backdrop of a great band they had booked. One of the most enjoyable aspects was during the menu sampling and approval, the clients really engaged with trying the samples and together we created some enjoyable dishes for their guests-and lots of it!
