I am Ian Wynne-Smythe, founder of Chester Ceremonies, a professionally trained toastmaster, and qualified and certified independent civil celebrant.

In my role as a toastmaster, I am present to ensure that everything you have planned goes exactly as it should and to elevate that element of class and distinction to your occasion.

As a celebrant, I believe that milestones in life and love should be freely celebrated reflecting the wishes of those most affected by them. In short, by you! It’s about you, it’s about freedom. The focus of any special day in which you declare your love for one another should be based on your wishes, your beliefs, and your desires, not those prescribed by another authority or doctrine.

My role is to nurture the freedom that you have and use both my personal qualities and professional skills to work to make your wishes and dreams a reality. My passion for caring for the needs of others has been underpinned by my being fortunate enough to have travelled the world as a hotel manager on cruise ships for over thirty years.

In this unique environment, I have encountered many situations that have equipped me to deal respectfully, caringly, and professionally with all manner of people, across all cultures, nationalities, and beliefs.

Ceremonies conducted by an independent celebrant can contain many elements that reflect the personalities and beliefs of the couple - be they more traditional or unconventional. Many traditions associated with weddings (e.g. hand fasting) can also be incorporated.

Either as toastmaster or celebrant, my promise to you is that you will at all times be respected - from the initial point of contact right through to the conclusion of your special occasion. You can be assured of a professional attitude and approach, attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills and a genuine, personal commitment and dedication to you so that you can be as worry-free as your occasion allows.
