When Add to Event shows suppliers to event organisers, the order they appear in is determined by a small number of factors that vary depending on where on the Platform you are. This page explains the main factors, how they're weighted, and whether suppliers can influence their position.
Where suppliers are ranked
Suppliers appear in a ranked order in two main places on the Platform:
- Invites. After an event organiser has submitted a Quote Request, they're shown a list of suggested suppliers in their area whom they can choose to invite to quote.
- Category and location pages. Pages such as "Mobile Caterer in Cheltenham" or similar event-type-and-location combinations, which often surface a curated set of suppliers as part of the page.
The order on each of these surfaces is determined by the factors below, with different weightings.
The main factors
The main factors we use to determine ranking are:
- Proximity. How close a supplier is to the event location.
- Reviews. The supplier's review score and the number of reviews they've received.
- Activity on the Platform. Including the number of completed bookings a supplier has had through Add to Event.
- Category relevance. How closely the supplier's services match the event type or category being viewed.
The importance of each of these factors varies depending on the type of page. Proximity is the main consideration across the majority of pages, however Reviews carry more weight in Invite lists and Completed Bookings are more influential on category & location pages.
How suppliers can improve their position
Suppliers can improve where they appear in rankings by:
- Keeping their listing accurate and up to date, including service areas and locations covered.
- Completing bookings through the Platform.
- Gathering genuine reviews from organisers they've worked with.
Suppliers cannot currently pay to appear higher in rankings on Add to Event.
