What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The main thing we need to know would be what equipment is required as we have a large range of different equipment types. Secondly what date and times the event is going to be and thirdly where the event is going to be held - with these simple details we can put together a quotation.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Check what equipment is being provided and if possible arrange a viewing or meet up to see with examples. There is lots of tatty and budget equipment around so make sure the person you are using has good quality, well maintained equipment. If something seems too cheap then there is normally a reason.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Lizard Audio Ltd was started by Simon Brown who began hiring equipment back in 2001 by just hiring out speakers to bands and DJs. With every customer having more detailed request, the more equipment was purchased and we expanded out from just speakers to hiring lighting, dance floors, marquees, AV equipment, generators, power distribution, public address systems, festival stages, pit barriers furniture, linen, and the list goes on and on. However large we get we always keep customer service as our key point with just Simon, his wife Katie and Jan working in the office and our great team in the warehouse and on the road running the events with us.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have only been on Add to Event for around a month and so far we have had 5 confirmed bookings, of which only one has so far been completed the rest are still months away but have all been booked in. The one that has been completed was quick, simple and is work we otherwise would not have gotten as it is out of our advertised area (although we do cover outside areas, we just don't actively search for them). I would recommend the service to others.
