What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a comprehensive estimate, we ideally need the event date and venue, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, estimated number of guests and their preferred style of dining, for example, informal finger buffet, formal sit down meal, sharing platters, street food etc. From this, we can then use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable estimate to meet their preferences.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask the supplier if they can create bespoke menus, individual to your requirements. If your event is as personal as a wedding, you shouldn't have to be restricted to menu A, B, or C, you should be able to alter them to suit your preferences or even work with the supplier to create your own. If they only have set menus for you to choose from, this may indicate that they also won't be flexible with other services. Whilst it is your day, if you start going off on a tangent or suggest unrealistic ideas, for example, eating your 3 course meal in half an hour, your caterer should offer guidance and advice dependant on their experience on what works well. If they just smile and nod, it may indicate they haven't got the previous knowledge and experience always desired.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Taste Events Catering & Mobile Bars evolved from our successful, award-winning Gastro Pub. Customers familiar with our style began to approach us for their own special events. From these first few events in 2011, we were lucky enough to secure many event bookings thereafter and into the following years. With the ever increase in bookings across the years, we then made the decision to introduce Taste as a separate company, offering all aspects of catering and mobile bars whatever the occasion.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Where do we start? There have been lots of bookings through Add to Event but if I had to pick one, it would possibly be our catering and drinks services provided at a product exhibition for a national company whose headquarters are in Northampton. The event was spread across a 28 day period (maybe even longer!) and we served breakfast, lunch and drinks to an average of 350 people each day. The event went so well, we were fortunate to secure many more events for the client from thereafter. We always recommend Add to Event to both suppliers and consumers, it is a platform perfect for all areas of the hospitality events sector.
