Funky Fountains is a chocolate fountain and photo booth catering company that provides service for South Wales and the South West including Swansea, Cardiff, Newport and Bristol. They have over 20 years of experience in the trade.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
The event date and venue are important for us to check our availability in our busy diary. Many of our products are catered, so one of the important questions we ask is "How many guests will there be?" - we find it is very helpful to know if the event is a wedding, birthday party, prom or corporate event as that can help us to suggest products to suit, we'll know which suitable props to provide for the photo booth and we know if we need to provide additional equipment to provide the best possible service.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
As with most things in life often the price will indicate the quality of the service being offered, and the quality of the equipment being used. Catered items such as chocolate and baileys fountains should be run by a company with a hygiene rating which you can look up online. If it's a photo booth you are looking for, it is often the smaller details such as number of prints offered, whether the photo album of prints is available for guests to sign and how good the attendants of the booth are that make all the difference.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
We started as Funky Fountains in 2006 after having 20 years experience in the catering trade where Alastair the owner had been working as a Head Chef. Wanting to work for himself, chocolate fountains seemed like the fun way to start. We quickly decided to introduce new items such as twin chocolate fountains and coloured chocolate. We then bought our first drinks fountain, which soon became popular with the Baileys fountain set up. We have built our repertoire over the last few years which now includes photo booths as another fun item especially suitable for parties. Our strap line is "Just have Fun!" and that's exactly what we try to provide for our customers - a fun, professional service to enhance any party.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We haven't been with Add to Event for very long so our first event is still approaching (It's a wedding and so was booked a year in advance). We are always pleased and surprised at how many interested clients pop up in our inbox - nearly every day there is someone there to send a quote to. It such a quick and easy service to use and we've been able to add our own quote templates which makes the whole process so much easier in our busy office. We're also impressed with the added detail like the map which shows where the venue is and how far away it is. We hope to gain many more clients through Add to Event!
