What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for us to provide an immediate quote, we ask that organisers can be as detailed as possible. Some of the things we look for when working out the level of cover if unknown by the organiser is: The audience profile - Groups of families, Young adults, elderly travellers for example. We also recommend you have firm maximum attendance figures as this will vary the quotation considerably as we always provide cover in lines with the purple guide.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

We would recommend that you always ask for proof of insurance in the initial conversation. Any professional provider will be happy to provide their certificates of insurance and as a minimum you should be looking for public liability and employer liability insurances along with medical/clinical negligence insurance.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Para-Train Ltd was set up as frustration to some other event medical companies. As managing director I have worked as a Paramedic for 10+ years on the frontline in an A and E ambulance, however, I always worked self-employed covering events in my spare time. I worked many events where I found the level of clinical care provided was very poor as some companies would rather save pennies than buying quality equipment. I teamed up with a partner and created Para-Train to provide high-quality patient care in the private sector and moved away from NHS work which has been successful.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We never imagined the amount of interest we would receive in our small business and we have grown from 2 members of staff to a team of 30+ clinical team members thanks to quotations and jobs we have taken through Add to Event amongst our own sales work. One event we have completed through Add to Event was a festival celebrating the VW camper van, we provided a number of staff to the festival providing 24-hour cover to the main venue and campsite.
