What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The most important thing I need to know when quoting is the date and duration of the event. This will allow me to check availability easily. Once I understand this it is really helpful to know the type of event, specifically for face painters whether this is a party with a set number of children or if this is a larger event which might require additional painters, for example. It's also really helpful to understand the venue too, if it's a private house for example or a festival.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

For a face painter it is really helpful to understand the kind of face painting they are looking for - so is this kids, is it just one adult, is there a theme for example Halloween or a Masked Ball. It's also vital to understand the numbers - every painter will know roughly how many faces they can complete within a given time. It's also worth understanding what parameters the painter will work within - for example a lower age limit as this will help manage expectations.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have always been creative and have enjoyed many aspects of arts and crafts over the years. I dabbled in painting my children when they were younger and absolutely loved it. I was so happy to discover a way to combine my love of painting with an opportunity to put smiles on so many faces. I love the challenge to continually improve and develop and nothing beats that magic mirror moment!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I think the best booking I have had from Add to Event was for a corporate summer party where I had the chance to really go crazy painting adults for a change. There was a band and I started with painting the singer which really helped to get everyone in the mood. The atmosphere was amazing and I was on such a roll. The feedback I had was so positive and the guests were all delighted with their transformations. I have had repeat bookings as a result.
