What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To enable me to provide a comprehensive and accurate quote for your event, please let me know: the type of event that you are having, how many guests you are expecting (that would need face painting), whether it is an indoor or outdoor event and for how long your event will last. Please note that on average, I can paint between 10-12 faces an hour. This estimate includes new safety protocols due to Covid. Any events with more children should book for more than one hour. What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If you are looking for a good quality face painter, then please ask if they are using industry-approved face paints and are insured. You should check any reviews and examples of their work on Facebook/Instagram. Bear in mind that very detailed photos on the internet will take longer than the 5-minute estimate that is normally factored in for birthday parties (per face). If you require something very detailed then please bear this in mind when booking - you may need to book for a longer party.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have been face painting since my days as a student, starting out (as most do) using Snazaroo paints. I usually painted at school events, carnivals and family parties. After numerous requests to do face painting for friends and family, I decided to follow it up in a more professional capacity. I bought better quality, industry-approved paints, got correct public liability insurance and began reaching out to local businesses and companies. In my first year, I secured some very successful events, painting at hotels, theatres, stores, carnivals, festivals and sporting events. This was in addition to children's birthday parties. Covid 19 has obviously meant that face painting has not been able to happen, however, I have used this time to continue working on my designs and building my business. I am keen to grow the business and offer to more corporate clients and weddings too.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have been booked via Add to Event for a number of parties and all have turned out really well. The most recent (due to Covid) was at a baby christening and it was lovely to be part of the celebrations. I am really looking forward to starting back again in earnest and making lots more faces sparkle!
