What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Initially, the most important pieces of information I need in order to provide a quote are the date and time of your party or event, your location and the number of guests that you are expecting. With face painting time is crucial! If I know from the outset how many faces need to be painted in a given time frame I can tailor my designs to suit; I wouldn't want anyone to miss out! It is also helpful to know whether you have a specific theme in mind so that I can prepare some bespoke designs just for you.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Amazing face painting requires hours of practice and good quality, professional materials. I would advise looking at the profile of any potential face painting supplier to gauge the quality of their work, equipment and hygiene practices. Also, ask for details of the painter's website or Facebook page to get a better idea of the type of work that they do.
If you have a specific theme in mind enquire as to whether they are able to create designs that fit in with it. Many face painters, make face gems and 'bling' which can really add some extra sparkle to your party; if this is important to you be sure to ask what they are able to offer.
Most importantly, ask how many faces they can paint in a given time frame and make sure that you book enough time to guarantee all your guests get painted.
The difference between good and bad face painting is very noticeable! Keep in mind that your guests will be wearing the painter's artwork for the duration of your party or event so it is important to be confident in your chosen painter's abilities before making a booking!

I love painting and creating! Face painting is the perfect medium for me in that it is fast paced and I am able to add my own style to designs. There is so much available now in terms of varieties of paints and materials, stencils, glitter, gems and more that there is so much potential to create wonderful artwork. Seeing a child who is thrilled with the design you have just painted is fantastic; it's a great job!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have only recently joined Add to Event but already the experience has been great. I have had lots of enquiries and a few confirmed bookings already so I am really pleased. I would definitely recommend it to other suppliers; the website is so easy to navigate and it's a great way to advertise your business.
