What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, first of all, we need the date of the event and the time to ensure that we are available. I then need to know what type of event it is such as a children's party, a charity fundraiser or a corporate event and whether it is an indoor and outdoor event. Next, I need to know the location of the event and how many people will be attending and are likely to use my service as this will help determine pricing. Finally, whether there is a particular theme to said event.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would definitely advise any customer to look at reviews and also examples of the service that they are providing. I personally would want to see what sort of face paints that they are providing. I would ask them to enquire about the products that they are using and what services they provide as I provide more than just face painting. Also, I think asking for the providers disclaimer/terms and conditions of their service so that they know exactly what they are getting and to make sure they are insured!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started face painting 1 year ago. it was the summer holidays and my boys and I were a bit bored so I grabbed the small face painting kit upstairs and painted them, I then painted my nieces and realised I really enjoyed it. Each day I would paint the kids a different design, I started having positive feedback from friends and family and decided to actually pursue it! I absolutely love face painting!
I got myself some business insurance, decided on a name and got some business cards. I set up my Facebook page and then I was away. I did a couple of free events first, kept my prices lower than average to build up my customers and experience. I was recommended Add to Event by another business owner and it has certainly helped with bookings. I cannot believe how much my business has taken off.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

To name one booking through Add to Event it would have to be the Pamper Party I had in Bedminster for a 6-year-old's birthday party. The lady that booked me was really impressed with the work that I had displayed on my profile and booked me straight away. I really like the fact that you can track your quote and you receive messages through email so you don't miss any correspondence regarding quotes.
The party itself was brilliant, we had fabulous communication beforehand so I was confident about where I was going and what service she was expecting. I always send a follow-up text to check that they were satisfied with the service that I provided and if they could pop a review on my Facebook page that would be brilliant. In this case, she didn't have a Facebook account so she kindly left a review on my Add to Event profile which I feel helps with future bookings.
