What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To be able to provide a comprehensive quote, there are three essential pieces of information we require. Firstly, the date of your event, secondly, the location, and third, the number of hours (or days) you would need us for. From here there are any number of extra details that could be helpful, for example, any parking restrictions, themes or colour schemes, number of guests, or if you need more than one painter maybe? The more information you can give us the better. It makes it easier for us to not only quote, but also tailor the service we provide to suit your event. But, on the whole, as long as we have the first three essential details, we should be able to quote effectively.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask to see examples of their work! There is no point in hiring a Halloween specialist for a princess party, and there is a huge variety in styles and standards amongst face painters, so be sure you like what you see. From there I would suggest checking any reviews they have, are they reliable? Are they good with children? And finally. but equally importantly, do they carry Public Liability insurance and use professional standard paints, accessories and glitters? All products should be FDA/EU compliant. and glitters should be grade 1 cosmetic glitters.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started Fantasy Faces 4u quite simply because I love what I do! I went to Art College back in the day but life took me away from Art, until my daughter asked for a "Frozen" themed party about four years ago. I had seen face painters at various events we had gone to, and thought their paints were gorgeous, so I thought I would do some research and see if I could paint for her party. I practiced hard on all the local kids and found I loved face and body art! Now I run my own body art event, I have won and placed in national competitions, test brushes for manufacturers and travel all around the UK painting for various events.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I am new to Add to Event, so have only done one booking through them so far. It was a very busy superhero themed birthday party in a village about half an hour away from me, and while various caped crusaders got their group photo done I spotted a timid looking girl clinging to her dad. I caught her eye and asked her if she'd like a unicorn painted for her. It had the desired effect, she hopped into the chair and by the time I had finished her design, we were surrounded by other kids ooh-ing and ah-ing and lining up for their turn. I gave them all numbers on their hands so they could play till their turn was called and got cracking! By the end even a couple of adults wanted to be painted and the mum thanked me and told me that her guests had been bowled over and that they would definitely be booking me again.
