Chameleon is a highly acclaimed 6-piece function band featuring both male & female lead vocalists. They have played at many events including weddings, corporate parties, award ceremonies, charity balls, private parties and outdoor events & festivals.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for us to provide the most accurate quote, we need to know the event date, an understanding of the type of event you are hosting, your chosen venue and also whether it's an indoor, or outdoor event.
If your event is a wedding and is being held in a marquee (or similar), you may need us to arrive on-site and set up earlier in the day, before your invited guests arrive. If so, an indicative time would help.
The expected time you intend the event to finish (usually midnight) and if there is a DJ in attendance too. Live music typically concludes at midnight, however, if you want us to continue after this, we would need to know that in advance.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Check reviews and ask lots of questions about the supplier and their style.
We know 100's of songs and work as professional musicians throughout the music industry too, however, we can't know everything. We also know that playing a mixture of music at an event is the best way to ensure that everyone goes home having heard and danced to a little bit of something they like. We don't think playing just one style of music works, but will always endeavour to feature certain genres in our playlist.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started Chameleon purely by accident, having been asked to provide music for an event. Like all business sectors, when asked to do a job, you engage colleagues that you know will deliver the very best. After a short period, I realised that I'd been working with the musicians (and friends) for some time and chose to formalise the arrangement by actively seeking to secure more regular work.
As a sideman for a great many prominent names in the music industry, I've attended lots of events and experienced the good and the not so good. Our own ethos is to deliver the best music we can so that the guests we are entertaining have a good time. This doesn't always mean playing the music we love individually, it's all about playing the right music to suit the audience.

Being in Chameleon allows us to remain 100% flexible musically. Many bands play the same 2 sets (20-30 songs) at every event they attend. We hate this and because we know so many songs and are true professional musicians (music is our job!), we have access to lots of songs. This means we have the choice of choosing from absolutely 100's of songs. We firmly believe this makes for a better musical experience.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We recently took a very short notice booking to play at a funeral celebration.
The client was clear about the wishes of her mother that she had very suddenly lost, but was very flexible and keen to hear how we might help her bring those wishes to fruition.
We attended the event (there were about 100 guests) and along with a few requests, played a selection of songs we thought everyone would enjoy.
Despite the occasion, the client was very relaxed and allowed us to do the best we could. The end result was a room full of people who had a great time. The dance floor was full all night and the audience was shouting for more at the end of the night. It was a great party and a lovely send off for the client's mum.
