What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a detailed quote, we would need the date, the type of event, the location/venue name, and the number of hours music is required. From this, we can work out whether it is an evening booking or a full day booking and quote it as such. Our equipment is top of the range and is good enough for weddings with over 300 people or as little as 50 people and we don't charge people more based on guest numbers below 300.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always ask about experience, as a wedding DJ, you learn what works, what doesn't and you really learn your music, over years and years. Someone who has been DJing for 2 years will not have the same level of experience and knowledge as someone in the business for 15 years.
Find out what equipment they bring. We bring £6500 worth of sound and lighting equipment. Some DJs total set up may have only cost them £1000, which is less than the cost of 4 of my uplighters alone.
Ask them how they work out their playlist. We use a playlist system and have a telephone discussion with every couple to go through genres and specifics 2 weeks before a wedding. Some people have set playlists that they use at every wedding.... Not us, but these DJs do exist

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started this business because I wanted to change the perception and stereotype that wedding DJs are all 50-year-old chubby men, with 20-year-old polo shirts, that talk over the music constantly in the "wedding DJ" voice and make everybody cringe while they play "YMCA" or "the birdie song".
I noticed that barn weddings were becoming really popular, and every DJ I had ever seen, had metallic framed DJ booths with starlit cloth covers and they looked futuristic and out of place. Fizz and Groove was designed to be the opposite of all of these things I have mentioned. We have rustic wood DJ booths and every single one of our DJs are experienced but cool. No cheesy wedding DJs here.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have only done one event through this platform, but already have 5 on my calendar. The first one went well, the person who booked me told me that she was really happy and her friends wanted to book me for their events. Add to Event is actually pretty great, I thought it would be a scam the first time I read about it, like another site I used before, but it is 100% genuine and I now get lots of work from it.
