What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

As we provide various types of temporary washroom facilities, it is important for us to know as many details as possible so we can quote for the most suitable option- type of event, rough timings of the event, the event date and how many days it will be in use, the number of guests expected, whether a marquee is being used, the postcode of the venue and the type of toilet facility required. The initial connection with all our clients is very important so we can impress from the start!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Each provider should be asked to explain exactly what is required on-site - water, power, drainage etc. Find out about their customer service during the hire period and what is the procedure should there be a problem. All providers should provide an out of hours contact number and be able to respond immediately to any emergency call out. If the provider is willing to help and advise and explain their products in great detail, it confirms they understand their product and knows what the customer will be happy with.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Classical loo Company began back in 1994 in Scotland with 1 toilet trailer and my husband and I running it! I ran the office and Ian carried out all the deliveries and collections, although in the early days I was coerced into towing and cleaning too! We are now a successful busy family business with our 2 sons also involved, covering the whole of the UK, with 12 varying sizes of toilet trailers and Moduloo vacuum facilities to cater for 2500 guests at any one event. We know that we are only as good as our last event, so we ensure that every client has our full attention from the initial enquiry to the completion of the contract. Our motto is - we are large enough to cope but small enough to care!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have pleased numerous Add to Event clients usually providing toilets for private smallish events. These are just as important as large corporate functions and the reviews we receive after the event from the client and their guests prove we are doing something right!
