What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide an accurate quote, ideally we need the event date, explanation of the type of event e.g birthday, festival or wedding; number of guests, whether you require furniture and finally location of the event.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My advice is to ask as many questions as possible to make sure you are getting exactly what you want, get as many pictures to ensure you know what you are getting for your money and to also listen any advice the supplier is giving.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Funk of the monk ltd is a family run marquee hire company who specializes in birthdays, festivals and small garden weddings. We can offer full packages including décor, furniture, effect lighting and much more. We started as we saw a gap in the market to not only provide a marquee but the special experience that should come with any event, we are confident that we help our customers achieve this and are proud of that fact. A lot of our work comes from recommendation and we are very proud of this also.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

One job in particular stands out.. we had a job in Wivenhoe near Colchester, job was great and the customers were lovely. Quite eventful as we accidentally stole a chicken from the farm where our yard is, got to the job and discovered the chicken came for the ride, we were in hysterics and so were our customers. The chicken was then returned to the farm safe and sound.. what an eventful day!
