What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to put together a full quote, we would ideally need to know:

- Event date
- Event location
- Number of guests
- Surface for the structure to be erected on
- Which extras are required: heating, flooring, lighting, fire bowls or tent only

We are very experienced in providing bespoke packages so once we have the above info we can put together an itemised quote, from which the customer can pick and choose which item(s) they want.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

There is lots of choice in marquee companies for your event. We would recommend finding out what material the tent and poles are made from, is it cotton canvas, clearspan or PVC; are the poles wooden or metal? There are pros and cons to each and every couple is different. Canvas tents are more breathable in hot weather and more insulating when it's cool, but generally are a little more expensive. Wooden poles look much more rustic and natural than metal poles but you may save some money with a metal poled tent.

Find out how long it will take to erect your marquee and install any extras. Make sure you'll have enough time to decorate your marquee before your event starts if you plan to do that, and empty it before it's due to be taken down. Most companies will offer extra days hire if needed.

Speak to your suppliers about the capacity of the structure you're interested in, we provide example table plans to help you visualise the number of people you can seat in our tents with different set-ups.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We started making marquees because we were bored of attending weddings and events with the same old white clear span marquees. They felt lifeless inside. We base our designs on traditional tents from around the world, and we put our own twist on them, inspired by the beautiful scenery that surrounds our converted barn workshop in the heart of Northumberland. We take pride in sourcing local, sustainable and ethical materials. The Ash we use for our poles comes from sustainably managed woodlands less than 10 miles away from our workshop! We have spent years learning the traditional techniques for crafting our poles, which support tents that look and feel like no other.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We are fairly new to Add to Event, but so far we are very impressed. We love the way it links suppliers and customers in an easy-to-use platform.
