What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

We would like as much information as you can provide date, timings, location, numbers, indoor or outdoor location, any special requests or dietary requirements, and food styles. From this we can put together a comprehensive quote, we can tailor-make or adjust current menu packages to suit the customer's requirements based on the information provided.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask the provider about their services, previous experience in the particular event they are enquiring about, check out reviews of the vendor on the Add to Event site, check out the vendor's website. Ask the vendor about their menus & packages, ask questions to the vendor directly concerning the event you wish to book, good communication between the vendor & the customer is essential.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Penny Farthing started in 2021, the company started by offering to take away services to the local community & has now moved into event catering & increased to a larger coverage area. As a fully qualified Chef with over 30 years of experience in the catering & hospitality industry, I wanted to start my own company providing good quality food & an affordable price. Penny Farthing was launched & has been successful, we started with a small trailer & within 12 months have now moved onto a larger van offering a wider variety & new menu packages.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

There have been a lot of bookings through Add to Event with many memorable events, if I had to choose one it would be an 18th Birthday party we catered for in Preston, the guests could not have been nicer, the family that made the booking were lovely, everyone had a great time we had lots of positive comments about the food & quite a bit of interest for future bookings in fact we picked up another 3 parties from this one event alone. Since joining Add to Event I have had many bookings and it has increased my exposure to the event catering side of the business, this platform is my preferred bookings site & I would not hesitate to recommend them to other vendors.
