What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide an accurate quote to a potential client, we need to know the date of the event, the theme the client has in mind and the venue. Other information is helpful, such as the type of event, number of guests attending and information about access to the event room and timings for the event. We'll then put a quote together with varying options to suit the clients budget, if possible we may also be able to send photos of similar setups we have created for past clients.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for a provider of event prop hire, I would ask the company about the props they hire out. Check that the props are of good quality and are in good condition, we would advise asking for photos of the exact props you will be hiring. You should also look for reviews of the provider from previous clients, these should give you a good idea of the quality of products and service provided. You need to be looking for a provider with a wealth of experience in the events industry,

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We set up Props 4 Parties as we saw a gap in the market for affordable, portable props that would work for both high-end corporate events and home parties alike. Large prop hire companies usually have a minimum spend of £500+ which makes them unaffordable to the majority of parties sending people to fork out on cheap "tat" from online auction websites which look ropey and are also then binned after the event. We're in between the two and supply fabulous looking party props that will transform your party room but not break the bank! We're also convenient as we use couriers to deliver and collect from your door.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We've had several bookings through Add to Event and they've all run smoothly. Our most recent one was Lydia from Kent who was hosting a surprise Peaky Blinders Themed 40th for her husband. We arranged to deliver her Peaky Blinders themed backdrop and banners to her work address so that her husband wouldn't know, Lydia then organised her friends to set up her party room in the afternoon (it only takes about half an hour to set up the backdrop and banners). Lydia arrived with her husband to a fabulous looking room full of people ready to party. After her party, Lydia packed up the props and a courier collected them on the following Monday. The feedback from Lydia and her guests was brilliant.
