What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

A definite date is needed so we know if we have availability and can quote for that event. It is useful for a supplier to know if the venue is indoors or out and if utilities are fully available nearby, if the venue is outdoors is it grass or hard standing. The full length of the hire taking into account setup times and usage, an accurate number of guests. If the hire requires a colour scheme please also provide this.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask the provider exactly what equipment they have that will meet your requirements. How much experience they have in providing this service, whether or not they are fully insured or if required registered with the relevant authorities and if the documentation is available for viewing. Make sure equipment is also tested if this is a requirement. Who is responsible for equipment once hired and their policies if anything goes wrong once hired or provided. It is also useful to ask whether they have or have had other services running alongside the service you would like which will give an indication of how much experience that provider will have in that field, ie. a if a wedding venue dresser has experience in planning or wedding or event coordinator, if a florist specialises in other sorts of flowers.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I had worked as a wedding and events coordinator for many years where I would help many venue dressers set up my venues, as I was a crafty person I started helping friends plan and dress their weddings, I then found myself facing redundancy and as my husband was already hiring leisure equipment in the same industry, which he had started after working for a friend who had then decided to close his business, I decided I would love to stay in the business but dressing as well as planning weddings and events so I booked myself on a private floristry course to learn how to do the floral side of the dressing too. As I understand the running and planning of events I find I can offer a smooth service working directly with venues and customers to offer the best service, I love weddings and parties and get a lot of satisfaction from the excellent feedback I receive from my customers.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event has brought us lots of business, winning on estimate 2 out of 5 quotes we send.
