What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide a comprehensive and competitive quote, I need to know what the event is for and whether it’s a casual or formal event. I would also need to know the number of people attending, including any children and whether the catering required is hot or cold. The budget is important too as catering can be supplied for a wide range of budgets, big or small. All budgets deserve the very best attention to detail, providing high quality, home cooked food that is full of flavour. It’s important to me that expectations are surpassed so gathering as much information regarding all of the above assists me in ensuring your event is just perfect.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Big is not necessarily always best. Look at smaller catering businesses too as they may offer a more attentive, personal service that can be tailored just for you. If there aren’t many reviews available, ask for some as they should have some customer reviews to share. Ask plenty of questions regarding what types of events the caterer has previously completed for customers. If you are looking for canapés for example, have they completed events like this previously, for the number of people you have attending. It’s important you have confidence in who you choose so don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I previously worked as an IT Project Manager for a multinational company for over 20 years. This gave me a wealth of skills that I have been able to bring to my catering company, such as working to time and budget, putting the customer first and the importance of gathering sufficient information to produce a comprehensive quote. My love of food and cooking led me to start my own business and it’s been the best decision I have ever made. I have loved putting into practice all I have learned over many years of cooking for friends and family and attending professional catering courses to perfect aspects of the cuisines on offer. I find myself in a very good place with regular and repeat customers for a variety of events. When someone sends me a text or email to say how much they enjoyed the catering for their event, that means the world to me.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

My first event was for a 40th wedding anniversary party. I couldn’t have wished for a nicer couple to work with.
