What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For a comprehensive quote, we like to know what kind of event you're hoping to achieve. The type of acts you are booking also makes a difference, so knowing if musicians are playing acoustically or if you have a full rock band can affect the type of PA system needed. Finally the basic details including the date and times of the event (longer events may need additional power) as well as a site address and postcode so we can estimate transport costs mean we can quote with accuracy!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always check what's included in the price, most staging contractors will provide a "stage only" quote, which means that they keep their initial quote low, but there's loads of hidden extras (such as PA and lighting equipement, crew, set-up and many more) that can easily double or even triple the price! Ensure that the stage is suitable, this means checking the size is appropriate for the performers and the PA system is not too big or small for the audience, any good staging company should be able to advise on this. They should also have Public Liability Insurance.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The Stage Bus was started over 10 years ago from a crazy idea to convert a double decker bus into a mobile stage, little did we know that 10 years on we would have a fleet of 5 mobile stages in varying sizes and an ever growing staff base to manage all the office and warehouse work! The stages have been designed to be efficient, our passion for green energy means that we have what we believe is the largest solar powered mobile stage in the UK! This also means we avoid the use of generators on event site which are not only a noisy distraction, but usually come as a hidden extra when you hire a stage. Our passion for efficiency means that our stages can be set up and run by just one person and the integrated design means we don't take hours rigging the lights and sound, it simply folds out from the vehicle and is ready to go!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Most recently we provided a stage as a DJ platform for and Afrobeach party in North London. The event was booked less than a week in advance and we were happy to jump in at the last minute. The team putting on the event were great really thankful that we were able to step at such short notice. Our crew returned positive and reported that a good time had by all! Having only been using Add to Events for a couple of months it was great to have a positive event, we normally advertise directly to clients and have done everything from sporting events like Marathons, to music festivals through to University end of year events right down to smaller events such as local family fun days and private parties.
