What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to provide a quote I would need the date of the ceremony, the venue or location if known, approximate number of guests, and whether you would like the event indoors or outdoors. I would also like to know if the event is 'traditional' or you fancy something 'a bit different' as well as a little about yourselves (as much as you feel happy with at this time). This will give me enough information to get a 'feel' for the event and the type of ceremony I can create for you.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
What you really need to do is find out if the celebrant is the right one for you. It is important that you feel comfortable with each other. You could start by checking out their website, especially the 'About' page but then also try and get at least a telephone conversation or better still an online meeting. Also, ask if they have insurance and check how many ceremonies they have conducted.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I became a Celebrant because my last job was as a Deputy Superintendent Registrar for a County Council and I loved it. Being there and part of a couples' special day is an honour and privilege. But I felt I could do more. By becoming a Celebrant I can give couples more choices and a more personalised ceremony which can include elements a Church or Civil ceremony can't. OK, I can't legally marry you but I can give you the ceremony of your dreams that will let you express your love and your personalities.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I'm new to Add to Event so the bookings I've had from them aren't actually happening until later in the year. But although I haven't conducted the ceremonies yet I have had lovely feedback from the clients involved about what I have done so far. The number of requests I've received through Add to Event is more than I expected so I'm over the moon and look forward to many more. The system works well and is easy to use so I have recommended Add to Event to other Celebrants in my professional association.
