What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

I need the venue, date and time of the ceremony. I do ask a lot of questions to get all the other script content filled in, but initially, all I have to do to accept a request and provide a quote is the venue, date and time. Once I have checked my availability, then I can provide the quote if the date is free. I never book two Ceremonies in one day. Too many chances farthings to go wrong, and I give my 100% attention to the ceremony taking place.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Think about what kind of ceremony you would like. What you would like included. What symbolic gestures, readings, poetry, music etc.
There is a lot more to a script than just reading a lot of words on a page. It generally takes 3 to 4 hours of writing, reading couples answers and incorporating them into the script, and making it sound funny, interesting, emotional and personal. not the easiest job in the world, but most definitely the most fulfilling job, and the most pleasurable job I have ever had.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I was scrolling through Facebook and answered an ad. Our current organisation was formed when we all became disillusioned and annoyed at how we were being treated by another so-called Humanist Organisation. They are Humanists but have not once discussed humanism in an open forum. It is just a name to them. They are all about the money and the greed and everything that Humanists shouldn't be. Our organisation abides by the law and supports charities and non-profit bodies like ourselves. We have regular meetings and discuss important issues that are part of our Humanist ethos. We also help people struggling with funeral costs. We embrace humanity.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

My first ceremony with Add To Event, turned out to be a non-event, thanks to Covid. The guest list contained a lot of over 75 year olds who would have been vulnerable and exposed to infection, so the couple cancelled 4 weeks before the date. More on the way in April, May etc, so will write here again after that
