Andy Meanock

I have been doing caricatures for over 33 years after starting my caricature career at 18 years old. I have been all over the country and done caricatures at the seaside, festivals and events, weddings and parties. I will come to your event and draw your guest's caricatures in around 8 minutes per person. We present the caricature backed and boarded to keep it flat and safe. Caricatures are an amazing and fun addition to any event and guests get to go home with a memento of the event and a piece of original artwork.

I left art college at age 18 with a Btec in graphics. However, my love has always been cartoon and illustration, so I became self employed and rented a small pitch in a local shopping centre, where my caricature business started. Since then I have worked at many events, festivals, comic cons, parties, weddings and corporate events doing caricatures and have over 33 years experience. I have also worked in the comic industry and have recently released my own self published comic - The Books of Meanock. I also have a large range of caricature prints for sale and a range of organic t-shirts with my artwork on them. All of these are available from my website and Etsy shop.

After starting our art business at age 18, we offered caricatures, leather jacket painting and pencil portraits at a shopping centre (Merry Hill) for a year or so. We then worked a short time at Blackpool Central pier, returned to Worcestershire and I pursued illustration and comic work. After doing a lot of freelance work, at 25 years old, we opened a shop in our local town where I offered caricatures from photos. After 6 years, we decided to travel the country and do caricatures at events - so with just a copy of Festival Eye (which we used to sell in our shop) we set off. It was hard work back then without the internet and finding events was much more difficult. So we opened another shop in a different town, where we stayed for 11 years. 2 years ago, we closed the shop and threw everything into the art business, doing events and hire jobs. This year we have many comic cons booked and look forward to better and more profitable events and jobs.

I have worked at lots of weddings and some corporate events. I have also done birthday parties. I can work in A3 or A4 and can do a small A4 caricature in around 4-5 minutes.

I prefer to be seated with my easel and sign and allow folks who want a caricature done to approach me, however I can offer A4 caricatures with walk about.

I have worked for DC Thompson (Beano), where I illustrated a new story. I have had work in the 77 comic where I illustrated a story, Mr Meeker. This is now compiled to be made into a complete graphic novel in the near future. I have recently released my own self published comic - The Books of Meanock, which I sell on my website and Etsy shop.
