- we take a quick reference photo of your guests, allowing them to continue enjoying the event; - I create custom illustrations behind the scenes. Each illustration is created from scratch, completely freehand, on A5 watercolour paper; -later, guests return to our beautifully presented gallery setup to collect their finished portrait.

Our Story
Hi, I’m Zhanna,
I’m a Devon based live event illustrator.
From working as a teacher to qualifying as a makeup artist, it still didn’t feel right. I kept
searching to do something that would fully align with my heart. Working most of my life in
retail, having a ten year break raising my family, I just wanted to do something meaningful
and joyful and not only for myself but for other people.
2025 was the year when Aya Illustration was officially launched offering live guest illustration service to those who have a weak spot for art and want to treat their guests to a unique, bespoke and emotive entertainment experience.
I aim to be the best at what I do every day, while providing a highly professional and personal service from our first communication through to the post-event experience.

Why choose AYA Illustration for your event:
Every guest portrait is created completely freehand, capturing the individual features, expression and pose of the person in front of me. I don't use pre-printed templates or generic facial features — each illustration is drawn from scratch in my own distinctive style. I pay particular attention to likeness. Even when working on A5 paper and at speed, my aim is to capture the character and recognisable features of each guest.
My linework is created with a waterproof fineliner, allowing me to establish proportions and facial details from the very beginning. Speed is another important part of live illustration. Through years of dedicated practice and regular drawing, I can typically create around 8–10 individual guest portraits per hour, depending on the complexity of the artwork.

Experience
I’ve been drawing my whole life, and much of what I’ve learned has come from my own curiosity and self-teaching. This passion eventually led me to study Illustration at Falmouth University. Along the way, I’ve also taken a number of private illustration courses to keep growing as an artist.
