We do require a £50 deposit to secure the event date and operate on a first come first served basis when booking & paying . Your date is not secured until deposit has been paid .

Backyard Feathers & Fur — Making memories, one animal visit at a time!

The History of Backyard Feathers and Fur began from a simple idea that started as a hobby and has grown into something we are incredibly passionate about. It all started when I was asked to take some of our pets into a local care home. We quickly saw the wonderful reaction the animals received from the residents and realised there was a real need for more opportunities for people to experience the companionship and therapeutic benefits that animals can bring. What began as an occasional visit with our chickens and ducks soon developed into a much bigger passion. We saw first-hand how animals could encourage conversation, bring back memories, create smiles and provide comfort and companionship, particularly for people who may not have the opportunity to have animals of their own.

Originally, Backyard Feathers and Fur was simply a hobby. As more people discovered what we were doing, however, we began receiving more interest in animal visits for care homes, events, parties and other settings.

Over time, our little collection of animals has grown. Alongside our chickens and ducks, we now have guinea pigs and a hedgehog, with a tortoise soon to be joining the family.

The name Backyard Feathers and Fur came from where it all began — our own garden. Our chickens and ducks provide the feathers, while our other animals provided the fur when we first started. It was a simple, slightly tongue-in-cheek name that stuck!

Today, Backyard Feathers and Fur is about much more than simply bringing animals to visit. Our aim is to create meaningful, enjoyable and memorable experiences through animals, whether that is bringing a smile to a care-home resident, giving a child the opportunity to meet an animal for the first time, or adding something special to an event.

What started with a few pets in our backyard has grown naturally through our love of animals and our belief in the positive impact they can have on people. We are proud of how far Backyard Feathers and Fur has come, while still keeping the same personal and family feel that it had right from the beginning.

I have over 5 years experience working in a child care environment including Sen. 4 years in adult care

We cater for care homes, schools, nurseries, birthday parties, weddings, festivals, community events and private parties. Our animal experiences are suitable for children and adults of all ages, creating fun, interactive and memorable experiences.

Myself & other members of the team are trained in adult & paediatric first aid , safeguarding , health & safety , food & hygiene level 3 I have my diploma in pre school practice (level 4) Dementia champion Challenging behaviour
