Hi, I'm Ben, the DJ behind BENX10.

I'm a professional DJ based near York, playing across Yorkshire and beyond. I bring a music-first approach to weddings, corporate events, private parties, bars and clubs.

I'm a DJ, not a party entertainer. If you're looking for karaoke, organised games or someone talking over every other record, I'm probably not your guy. But if you want someone who knows their music, can mix properly, read a dance floor and keep great tracks flowing all night, that's exactly what I've been doing for nearly 30 years.

I love mixing across genres and decades. Disco into house, funk into hip-hop, indie into dance classics, familiar favourites alongside unexpected surprises. Beatmatching, blending and finding connections between tracks are all part of the fun.

Every event is different. I'll take the time to understand what you love, what you'd rather not hear and the atmosphere you're hoping to create. Requests are always welcome.

I can bring a complete professional setup with sound and lighting, or work with your venue's existing equipment. I can provide microphones for speeches too.

For weddings, parties and special occasions, I also offer a DJ and live singer package: a brilliant live vocalist alongside a seamlessly mixed DJ set.

My love of DJing started long before I ever stood behind a set of decks.

As a kid, I'd sit listening to the Top 40 on the radio, fingers hovering over the record and play buttons on my cassette recorder, trying to capture my favourite tracks and make my own mixtapes.

That turned into DJing at university house parties, then bars and clubs in Lincoln, London and Yorkshire. Nearly 30 years later, I'm still doing it.

And the thing that excites me hasn't really changed.

It's that moment when you play exactly the right record at exactly the right time. Something everybody knows, but nobody was expecting. Sometimes you don't even realise it's the perfect track until you play it and feel the room respond.

My philosophy is simple: prepare meticulously so you can improvise instinctively.

I spend a huge amount of time discovering music, organising my collection and understanding how different tracks work together. But when I'm DJing, I rarely know exactly what I'm going to play next.

Unless there's a particular moment we've planned together, I don't arrive with a fixed setlist. I want to be in the room, reading the crowd, responding to the energy and finding out where the music takes us.

For me, that's the magic of DJing. It's not just playing great records. It's the connection between the music, the DJ and the people in front of you.

Nearly 30 years behind the decks has taken me from intimate bars and late-night clubs to weddings, hotels, corporate functions and private celebrations.

These days I'm based just outside York, with regular nights in city-centre bars alongside weddings, corporate events and private parties across Yorkshire. My recent venue bookings have all come back with 5-star feedback.

That variety is a big part of what I bring to every booking. I'm as comfortable soundtracking a drinks reception as I am building the energy on a packed dance floor.

Whatever the setting, my approach stays the same: understand the audience, get the music right and let the night develop naturally.

My clients have one thing in common: the music matters to them.

They aren't simply looking for someone to turn up and provide entertainment. They want the right soundtrack for their event, whether that's an elegant drinks reception, an intimate wedding or a dance floor full of people having the time of their lives.

And I play regularly in bars, clubs and venues across Yorkshire, where the crowd changes every week and the DJ’S job is to keep the room with you at all times.
