I work with couples who care more about being present than performing for the camera. The big laughs, the happy tears, your mates losing it on the dance floor, your mum fixing your outfit when no one’s looking — those are the moments that matter years from now. My job is to notice them quietly and capture them naturally, without turning your wedding into a photo shoot.
Most couples tell me they were worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera — and then later say they barely noticed I was there. That’s exactly how I like it. I’ll give gentle direction when you need it (especially for group shots and a few relaxed portraits), but the rest of the day is about you enjoying every second, not posing through it.
I photograph weddings across the North East and further, including Europe, and I take on a limited number each year so I can give every couple the attention they deserve — from helping with timeline tips before the day to delivering your photos quickly after.
If you’re planning a laid-back wedding and want photos that feel natural, joyful, and true to you, we’ll probably get along brilliantly.

Where to start, from the first contact with David via email there was a feeling we had chosen the right photographer. After discussing what we wanted we met up for a coffee and chat. He brought some of his portfolio with him and his work was excellent. Our son and fiancée discussed what they would like and David had suggestions as well. The wedding at The Story Durham was 10.30. David was there early and all set up ready to take some photos as we arrived. Everything went perfectly. The photographs were a mixture of casual and natural and some a little more formal. The taster photos were sent via email within a few hours! The results of all are beautiful and will be looked at many times over. David is friendly and professional. Book him
