Our Story
Experience
The name First Press refers to olive oil and wine manufacture where the ‘first pressing’ releases the highest quality, purest oil or juice that creates a coveted, high-end product, and this is how we view our hospitality services.
Founded by James Twiner, Head Chef and Sommelier, First Press brings together over 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality, fine dining, and events. James’ approach blends craftsmanship and creativity — curating menus that celebrate beautiful produce, bold flavours, and the joy of shared experience.
In 2025, James was joined by Clara Howard, his partner in life and now in business. With a background in sales, marketing, events, and corporate management, Clara brings the organisation, communication, and calm precision that keep each event running seamlessly. Together, they balance artistry with strategy — turning vision into execution, and hospitality into something truly memorable.

Perfect in Every Way
James and Clara provided us with a lovely dinner for my 60th birthday celebration. The food, presentation and service was impeccable from first contact through to serving the dinner. Highly recommended.
Fabulous.
We were absolutely delighted with the quality of the food that James provided for the wedding. We had given him the difficult task of providing a wedding buffet with 1/3 of the guests being vegetarian, plus it all had to be gluten free and nut free. However it was all delicious and there was plenty to go round for everyone. He served wonderful canapés to start with and then laid out the food for us to help ourselves as requested. All my guests commented on how good it was. Thank you so much. It helped to make the wedding a really happy occasion that we will all remember.
