About John Elson Artist

As seen on TV, I am a live caricaturist. A ‘kind’ one. A great ice breaker and attention magnet, I draw live caricatures. 12-14 an hour. Many years of experience. I always stay longer than booked, as long as someone wants to draw.

I draw on a prepared template with a message you can customise….they make great ‘take home’ gifts for family and friends.

There’s also the option of a colour caricature guestbook, which people sign on the day. I can explain more…

I caricature at lots of the UK's biggest festivals, including Latitude/Goodwood Revival/ Burghley Horse Trials.

Our Story

I love drawing and can’t quite believe how fortunate I am to make a living at it. Engaging/chatting and finding out about people as I sketch them is my favourite thing to do. It’s almost art therapy (almost..ha). I started at my local village fete. I set up two chairs and drew whoever sat down. It went well. Then a friend asked me to draw at their wedding reception….then a stranger asked….and it’s just evolved from there into my full time profession. I now go all over the U.K. to all kinds of events, drawing people from all backgrounds. It’s a great icebreaker and attention magnet at any event. I know im lucky to do what I do!

Experience

I’ve drawn for as long as I can remember. Professionally for over 25 years. Cartoons have always been my first passion, and I’m fortunate to have cartoons published weekly in 14 regional newspapers. Along with drawing cartoon portraits live at events. It’s taken me all over the U.K being hired in the last few months for events such as a weekend wedding in Mevagissey, Cornwall, to a corporate award ceremony in Aberdeen. I also draw digitally and am the ‘in-house’ illustrator for BookPrintingUK. Illustrating lots of new authors' work and book covers. My newest thing is making short animated caricature reels.

Typical Clients

Wedding receptions. Parties, birthday/anniversary, etc UK Festivals (Latitude, Goodwood Revival, Beautiful Days) Weekly published editorial cartoonist (15 newspapers). Conferences (The Environment Agency, UWE Bristol, The Great Northern Conference, etc.) Clients include BMW, The Institute for Mechanical Engineering, The Salvation Army, Many U.K Universities, Ponticelli, etc.

John was Brilliant

John came to our wedding day in June in and was amazing. Everyone loved seeing each other caricatures and it was definitely was a talking point. John was extremely pleasant and chatty to everyone, he even stayed into the evening so that some of the evening guests also went away with a caricature too. John even made the effort a doing one for our niece who couldn't make the wedding as lives abroad and she was super happy. Thank you ever so much John

A brilliant addition to 40th party

John was booked for my husband’s 40th last night - as soon as he arrived he started drawing guests and managed to do everyone who wanted one ( some multiple times!) and was a real talking point of the evening. His drawings went down really well with all the guests and are a lovely momento. I would definitely recommend John to others!
