Some of the best moments of your wedding day happen when you're not in the room. Love on the Line captures them.
We hire beautifully restored vintage GPO rotary telephones as audio guest books for weddings and events across Kent and East Sussex. Guests lift the receiver, hear a personal greeting recorded by you, and leave a message. You get the speeches nobody planned, your nan singing, the friend who got emotional at midnight, all in their own voices.
It started as a gift. Colin spent the best part of a year restoring and coding our first phone for my brother's wedding. Over sixty messages were left that night, and listening back to them we knew we had to share it. Every phone since has been restored and built by hand at home in Tunbridge Wells.
We have two phones available: one ivory and one classic black, both fully restored working GPO rotary sets that look right at home on a vintage, rustic or modern table.
Hire is £250, which covers everything: delivery, setup, collection, unlimited messages and your recordings back within 24 hours. There's no per-message limit and no upselling afterwards. A small travel fee applies beyond 25 miles of Tunbridge Wells.
We're a husband and wife team, we only take one booking a day per phone, and we handle every event ourselves.

Our Story
It started with one phone and one wedding.
Niomi's brother was getting married, and rather than buy something off a shelf, she found an old GPO rotary telephone and brought it home. Colin took it from there: stripped it back, restored it by hand, and spent the best part of a year writing the code to turn it into a recording device. It was finished, just about, in time.
Over sixty messages were left on it that night. We sat down the next morning to listen to all of them, and it wasn't what we expected. There were the funny ones and the drunk ones, obviously. But there were also people saying things they'd never have written in a book, and voices we hadn't heard sound quite like that before. Grandparents, old friends, the quiet ones who don't make speeches.
That was when it stopped being a wedding present. A written guest book gives you handwriting. This gives you your people, exactly as they sounded on the best day of your life.

We're Colin and Niomi, a husband and wife team based in Tunbridge Wells.
Colin handles the making and the technical side. He restores every phone by hand, writes the code that runs them, and builds the systems behind the scenes that get recordings back to couples within 24 hours. If it has wires or a keyboard, it's his.
Niomi looks after the customers. She's the one you'll hear from when you enquire, the one who'll talk through your greeting message with you, and the one keeping track of the details in the run-up to your day. She also runs everything you'll see of us online.
On the day itself, one or both of us will deliver and set up your phone in person. We don't use couriers, we don't subcontract, and we don't send anyone you haven't spoken to.
