I’m Mags, the photographer behind M Banka Photography, based in Melrose in the Scottish Borders. I specialise in natural, relaxed photography for weddings, families, newborns and events across Scotland. My approach is simple — no awkward posing and no forced smiles. I’ll gently guide you when needed, while capturing the real moments, laughter and little details that make your story yours. Whether it’s your wedding day, a new baby, a family milestone or a special event, I want the experience to feel easy and enjoyable, with photographs that still feel like you years from now.

I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. For me, it has always been about preserving the moments that pass far too quickly — the expressions, connections and little details we often don’t realise are important until years later. That’s still what inspires me every time I pick up my camera.

Nearly 30 years behind a camera, 17 years using professional equipment and photographing weddings since 2017. My experience covers everything from intimate ceremonies and full wedding days to newborns, families and large events.

I work with couples, families and event organisers who want beautiful photographs without the experience feeling staged or stressful. My clients usually value natural moments, genuine emotion and a relaxed approach rather than lots of formal posing.
