Whether it’s a company party, a milestone birthday or a celebration at home, most hosts worry about the same thing: will people actually dance, and will it go smoothly? That’s the part we take off your hands.

Myan is Mark and Ryan, two club DJs from Portsmouth who came up through the scene in the nineties. We’re the same generation as most of your guests, so we know the records that take a room straight back to a great night out, and which ones everyone has heard a thousand times.

Every party has two crowds: guests who light up at the original, and guests thinking “not this again”. We play the songs they both know (disco, funk, soul, club classics, house) in current remixes with a proper dancefloor beat. One crowd gets the hook, the other gets something fresh. Every track flows into the next and gets room to breathe, so it never sounds like a quick-fire megamix, and even a wedding feels like a proper night out.

The night is yours. We agree the brief beforehand and take requests. Ask for anything and you’ll get it, mixed so it sounds good. We watch your guests all evening, lifting the energy when they’re ready and easing off when it’s time to talk.

The practical side: our own QSC sound system, lighting and Shure wireless mics. Setup and pack-down handled, full public liability insurance, PAT-tested kit. Two of us at every booking, so the music never stops. Mic for speeches when you need it, quiet when you don’t.

We hold residencies across Southsea, sold out our club classics night at The Florence Arms, and were trusted to open one of the area’s biggest new bars, three Saturdays running.

A limited number of dates are available at an introductory rate this year in exchange for an honest review. Portsmouth based, covering Hampshire and the south coast. We’d rather have a ten-minute chat about your plans than send a generic quote.

We both started DJing in the nineties, playing long club nights where the job was simple: keep the room dancing for hours without ever letting the energy drop. That’s still how we work today.

Over the years we noticed something at parties. The music was either the same old songs everyone had heard a thousand times, or something so unfamiliar that half the room sat it out. We wanted to do it differently.

So we started Myan. We play the songs your guests already know and love, but in fresh remixes that sound brilliant on a dancefloor, and we blend each one into the next so the night builds instead of stopping and starting. There’s nothing better than watching someone hear a song they’ve loved for twenty years and realise they’ve never heard it quite like this.

We’re a duo, so one of us is always watching your guests while the other mixes. That’s how we know when to lift the energy and when to let people talk. Today we play regularly at venues around Southsea and Portsmouth, and bring the same care to homes, gardens, function rooms and offices: the Christmas party, the 50th, the wedding, the celebration at home.

Between us, over fifty years behind the decks. Mark has been DJing house and club classics since the mid-nineties, alongside a twenty-year career in marketing, which is why we run the business side as carefully as the music. Ryan holds a BSc (Hons) in Live and Studio Sound and has spent more than twenty years in professional music, from club booths to studio work to teaching sound and music technology.

Milestones that matter: 4 To The Florence, our club classics night at The Florence Arms, sold out and doubled the venue’s takings, and became the model for everything we do now. More recently, we were trusted to open one of Southsea’s biggest new bars across three Saturdays. We play every week at Sirens Tap & Grill and the Lord Fitz Clarence in Southsea, so we’re reading real rooms week in, week out, not dusting the decks off for the occasional booking.

Ryan also delivers music technology sessions in schools and SEN settings, which takes patience, adaptability and a real feel for what each group needs. The same instincts we bring to every party.

Our clients tend to have one thing in common: they care about their guests having a great time, and they don’t want to spend the night worrying about the music.

The office or operations manager organising the Christmas party, client evening or awards night. You’ve got a mixed crowd, from the graduate intake to the directors, and you need everyone to stay past the meal. We handle background music through drinks and dinner, then build into a dancefloor that works for all of them. The night you hear people saying “best Christmas do we’ve had” on Monday morning.

The partner, friend or family member planning a milestone birthday, anniversary or garden party. Many of our clients are in their 30s, 40s and 50s, grew up going out, still love their music, and would rather host a great night than go looking for one. You’ll hear the songs you all danced to back then, in versions that sound brilliant now.
