About Richard Barriball

As a pianist, I have performed on the Royal Yacht Britannia, for Forth Radio and in front of Princess Diana with evergreen classics from Billy Joel, Elton John, Scottish folk songs and music from the Disney films and other theme tunes like the theme from the US comedy "Taxi", "Forrest Gump", etc. A wide and varied repertoire to suit most people most of the time. I can bring my own PA system and supply a wireless microphone for speeches.

As a ceilidh caller, I used to demonstrate Scottish Country & ceilidh dancing with Edinburgh University and took part in ballroom dancing competitions growing up. I can supply up to 3 hours of dancing using my backing tracks to call with. I do not play piano when ceilidh calling as my focus is on the dancers to keep everyone safe.

Richard was great!

With a clear passion for what he does, Richard made a great Burns Night even better. Starting off with some great work on the piano, Richard then provided ceilidh calling later on in the evening. Many guests commented on how fun the evening was with Richard at the helm, and we will look to book him again for future events. BZ!

The smiles in our photos says it all

We are so glad we decided to have a Ceilidh caller at our wedding reception. We’re from the U.S. and got married at Fingask Castle in Perthshire with about 20 guests. Honestly, we were worried no one would dance, but Richard made it fun and easy for everyone to join in — even my husband, who never dances! Richard was patient with us Americans who didn’t know the dances, and he explained and demonstrated everything in a way that made us feel comfortable. We ended up laughing, dancing, and having the best time. You can see the joy on our faces in the photos — it was such a highlight of the evening.
