About Sea Rae Photography
Have you spent too long trying to squeeze yourself inside a box that was never made for you. You’re not a cat, so if you don’t fits, you don’t have to sits. And you don’t have to settle for photos that make you feel like someone you’re not.
Maybe you’re done hiding the parts of yourself that make you different, because those quirks are what make you interesting and memorable.
Whatever brought you here, you want more than just photos.
With a photoshoot with me, you get a journey. A playful, creative experience that is reflective of who you are, how you feel, and how you want to be seen. You don’t have to perform or pretend, you can be yourself. That doesn’t create good photos… it creates great ones. The sort of photos you won’t be able to stop looking at and printing for your wall.
If you’re a business owner, that might mean photos where you feel so confident and yourself that you can’t wait to use them over and over again in your marketing. No suits necessary (unless that’s what you love).
Or for a portrait session, you might have been hiding in someone else’s shadow for your whole life but now you’re ready to embrace yourself with a bold fashion shoot in a castle.
If you’re planning a wedding, you might want to ditch the ‘traditional’ and choose something you love. Whether that’s a murder mystery theme or a forest fairy theme.
This is where you get to be you, quirks and all.

Our Story
Hi, I’m Rae, a slightly weird (in the best way), nature-wandering North Wales photographer based in the ruggedly beautiful hills of Denbighshire. When I’m not holding a camera, you’ll usually find me wild swimming, reading, or being held hostage by my cats.
My work through Sea Rae Photography blends storytelling with a distinctive, expressive style that captures character, emotion, and the small details that make people interesting. Inspired by nature, water, nostalgia, and the odd ideas that pop into my head that somehow… work. Some call my style quirky, but I say I’m intentionally different.
My love of photography began in the most unexpected place, the British Army, where I learned to navigate fast-paced, high-pressure environments with a camera in hand. From photojournalistic coverage of political figures to published features in major outlets (and even a place in the Soldier’s Charity Calendar), those early experiences shaped the way I see light, movement, and unique moments in time.
That same lens led me to Southeast Asia, where I volunteered on conservation projects from turtle rescue in Malaysia to elephant re-wilding in the Thai highlands, immersing myself in storytelling that gave voice to causes I deeply care about. While in Southeast Asia, I spent five months living among a remote Karen Hill Tribe, documenting everyday life in a place where nature and community are everything.
Today, my focus lies in storytelling visuals of people, animals, seascapes and everything in between. Whether I’m photographing a small moment of connection, a portrait that makes someone say ‘actually I do love photos of me’, or a pet that means the world to someone, I believe in the magic of images that stick with you.

Experience
My work has most recently been exhibited at The Glasgow Gallery of Photography, the Chester Photo Festival and The Royal Photographic Society 40% Project. I have also had photos published in The Guardian, Welsh Country Magazine Online, The Herald, The Soldiers Charity Magazine, and The Army website.
Typical Clients
I provide alternative photography for weddings, events, businesses, couples, individuals, families and more. If you have always thought of yourself as slightly different ie a mortgage broker covered in tattoos who has never been a suit person, someone who wants a full on forest fairy wedding, a pagan family who wants to celebrate their roots, an individual looking to celebrate your 45th birthday with an 80s gym themed shoot… I’m your person.
