Our pop-up golf simulator breaks the ice and gets people chatting. Playing side by side takes the pressure off conversation and, before you know it, everyone's cheering and laughing together.

We get asked a lot about non-golfers, so we tracked how long people spent using the simulator at events. The feedback has been great all round, but one thing surprised even us: on average, non-golfers spend 15% longer playing.

It's completely new to them, so they're usually the most intrigued. We help them get set up and, once they find their feet, they're hooked and straight back in the queue for another go.

We run competitions that anyone can win, and we mean anyone, whether it's their first time holding a club or they're a seasoned pro. The leaderboard does a great job of drawing people in and gives everyone something to talk about.

It never tips into feeling too competitive. It creates a relaxed, light-hearted atmosphere and gives people something they'll still be talking about long after the event.

I'm Joel, a golfer from Lytham, member at St Annes Old Links and off a handicap of around 10. I spent ten years in B2B sales, which meant a lot of corporate events, and I noticed the same thing at nearly all of them: the golf days were brilliant for the golfers and left everyone else out, and the rest of the events had people standing in circles with the same colleagues they see every day.

Teed Up started as a way to fix both. Bring the golf to the event instead, and suddenly anyone can have a go, whether they've played for 30 years or never held a club.

At 27 I sold my house to make it happen. I tested more simulators than I care to admit before finding one you can swing freely in, and had the outdoor inflatable built by a supplier who'd never made a golf one before.

What keeps me going is watching someone who swore they couldn't play hit one pure, and then find them back in the queue ten minutes later.
